Joining
VIS conveyor and processing belts are either endlessly welded or mechanically joined, depending on the belt type and application conditions.
Below you can find our joining options:
Welded joints
single finger joining
It is particularly suitable for single-layer belts. In this process, the belt end is punched to form fingers, which are then stapled and welded together.
Benefits:
- very flexible
- for small pulley diameters
- uniform belt thickness is guaranteed
multiple finger joining
This joining method is suitable for multi-layered and highly stressed belts. We split up the belt ends and punch fingers into the different layers, which are then stapled and welded together.
Benefits:
- flexible and robust
- for small pulley diameters
- uniform belt thickness is guaranteed
stepped overlap joining
This joining method is characterised by gradually split belt layers in which the two ends are laid one on top of the other and welded or glued together.
Benefits:
- robust and sturdy
- cold bonding is possible
- suitable for multi-layer belts
wedge joining
This type of joint is suitable for our tapes made of felt, rubber and multi-layer fabric. The ends are skived, ground off at an angle and laid one on top of the other and welded or glued together.
Benefits:
- robust and sturdy
- cold bonding is possible
- suitable for multi-layer belts
Mechanical joints
Our mechanical joining solutions are suitable for applications that do neither permit the welding of the belt on site in the conveyor system nor the installation of an endless belt. They are offered in different lengths and thicknesses.
plastic spiral joint
Plastic spiral joints can be used for all belt types.
Benefits:
- FDA compliant
- robust and sturdy
- allows for quick installation on the machine
anchor hook fasteners
Round or flat metal hooks are inserted into the ends of the belt, which can then be joined endlessly with a closing wire.
Areas of application:
- belt thicknesses from 1.0 to 6.0mm
- suitable for machine mounting
alligator fasteners
This method of joining is a mechanical joint with metal plates in the form of an alligator mouth, which are then joined endlessly with a closing wire.
Areas of application:
- belt thicknesses from 1.5 to 6.4mm
- suitable for machine mounting
